Self-Improvement

Same-sex marriage is an abomination before God, but breast implants are perfectly acceptable, and boost a girl's confidence, as well (provided they're free?).

Amour Haiku VII

Shirtless and sweating,
housepainters employ their art:
bellyfat glistens.

Squirrel squashed by fate:
passing traffic disturbs crows
feasting raucously.

Sun burns, but the wind
kisses our faces sweetly:
mud is dog's best friend.

lingers on the evening air:

Mayhem

If this had been our cat, Peaches, utter carnage would have been the outcome: a veritable bath of puppy blood, bones, fur and tears.

(cuteoverload is entirely to blame)

Sticky

Cute, yes, but they're still stickers: I'm sure the adhesives used aren't organic. (via BoingBoing)

Bonne Fête!

Happy birthday to my favourite rabble-rouser, fellow Canadian Naomi Klein. I recently finished The Shock Doctrine, and it shouldn't have held any (or very many) surprises, but, not infrequently, it made me ill. It was epiphanic. Read it if you haven't already (and No Logo, too - and I know, it links to Amazon in the UK, but I really liked Penguin's cover).

Waterworld?

It's certainly beautiful, but how will it feed the People? Or is it seafood hereinafter (and slower avians, perhaps)?

Cartographic Delights

Another fabulous find courtesy of Boing Boing, Strange Maps collects fascinating, bizarre, and simply beautiful maps of all kinds (generally less conventionally mappy, though). These are two recent maps that caught my eye (books and beers, baby).

Nautical Pop-Up Fun

I don't really know much about Lisa Hannigan (she's Irish, she writes lovely songs), but this video is almost inexpressibly moving. And who made those pop-up books? I want one for my (future) children (Thank you, Fabulist!).

L'amour

This is so trippy (but wonderfully so). Ain't love grand?
